Walmart Canada opens Atlantic Canada DC

Walmart Canada has opened its first distribution centre (DC) in Atlantic Canada. The 223,000-square-foot facility in Moncton, NB, will distribute goods, including groceries, to more than 40 Walmart stores in the region. This facility is part of the retailer’s $3.5 billion investment to generate growth and speed up the flow of products across Canada. It says it wants to grow its number of suppliers in the region as part of its commitment to increase local product offering in stores across the country. In addition, as part of its transition to a more regenerative company, the DC features an Energy Star white reflective roof, LED lighting with integrated motion sensors and intelligent controls, natural refrigerants, and lithium-ion electric material handling equipment.
