Lisa Hepfner, Member of Parliament for Hamilton Mountain, announced funding of over $1.4 million for the Woodland Cultural Centre in Brantford.
The funding, provided by Pascle St-Onge, Minister of Canadian Heritage, will support the project called “Save the Evidence.” The Canada Cultural Spaces Fund will support the final phase of the project at the former Mohawk Institute Residential School, transforming it into a site of conscience that honors survivors’ experiences.
The Canada Arts Presentation Fund will provide $75,000 over three years for the “Gonahdoge.he.gye – She Is Growing” performance series.
Additionally, the Multiculturalism and Anti-Racism Program supported “Dwade?'nyota' Dwaga:'sho?:'o?h – We Celebrate Our Stories,” a hybrid cultural showcase and workshop commemorating the Summer Solstice.
