Year-end 2023 lumber prices match 2022 levels
Year-end lumber prices for 2023 match those from last year, according to forest products industry price guide newsletter Madison’s Lumber Reporter.
In the week ending December 8, 2023, the price of Western S-P-F 2x4 #2&Btr KD (RL) was US$408 mfbm, which is down by -$6, or -1%, compared to the previous week when it was $414. Compared to the same week last year, when it was US$400 mfbm, that week’s price is up by +$14, or +3%. Meanwhile, compared to two years ago when the price was US$710 mfbm, that week’s price is down by -$296 or -42%.
During the same week, the price of Southern Yellow Pine East Side 2x4 #2&Btr KD (RL) was US$445 mfbm. This is up by +$15, or +4% from the previous week when it was US$430 mfbm. Compared to the same week last year, when it was US$445 mfbm, that week’s price is flat. Meanwhile, compared to two years ago when the price was US$835 mfbm, that week’s price is down by -$390, or -47%.
